Tuntunu Designs is the home of Ugandan crafts – and we think it’s the best place to buy and sell handmade in East Africa. The 3 outlet craft shop is run by a small team led by our founder and director Annet Kabarungi, based on Plot 15, Buganda Road, Kampala – Uganda, who are passionate about crafts. Annet always wanted to create an uncurated physical and online space where she could showcase crafts work and share the story behind the creations and so, in 2006, Tuntunu designs was born.

The inspiration for Tuntunu Designs came to birth based from Annet Kabarungi’s daughter, Kobugabe Sheeba, nicknamed “Tuntunu” born 16 years ago. Annet joined Art and Crafts business after being frustrated by another endeavor where she was dealing in imported products since the Chinese flooded the market with duplicated products. Looking for survival, Annet came to learn about Crafts through a friend, Winfred Sengoba. As time went on , she started attending exhibitions from both local and in neighboring countries after getting encouragement from other women in the same business. This presented an opportunity to learn from other people which in turn helped her realize how lucrative the business could be.
